Get caught mid-bite in a lit window, stare back, shut the curtain.

Videohot

The window peeper trend is a TikTok format from October 2026: the camera creeps up to one lit apartment window at night, the person inside is eating a burger, notices you, stares back for far too long, then gets up and pulls the curtain shut. ZapVid turns one photo of you into your own vertical version of that clip, with the same push-in, stare and curtain pull. It takes 5 to 7 minutes and uses 100 credits ($9.99 buys 100). You do not need CapCut or a camera.

What is the window peeper trend?

The earliest widely shared window peeper clip was posted on TikTok on October 20, 2026 by @therealrodentspawn. It is a 14-second vertical video shot as if from the building across the street: a slow zoom from a dark apartment block into the only lit window, where a man sits at a small table with a burger and a takeout bag. He stops chewing, stares straight into the lens, puts the burger down, stands up and yanks the curtain closed. The caption was "Try this filter yourself", with the tags #capcut, #pioneertemplate and #windowpeeper, and the clip passed 2 million views within four days.

The joke works in any language because there is no dialogue. The slow zoom feels like a horror film, the dead stare makes it awkward, and the angry curtain pull turns it into comedy. Most copies were made with CapCut templates that paste one face into the same clip, which is why the room, the table and the moves look identical from video to video.

By October 24, 2026 the window peeper tag had more than 500 videos, and new versions were spreading beyond English-speaking TikTok, including remakes with different foods such as noodles or pizza. The first clip shows a well-known TV comedy character look-alike. Our version does not use that character or any real person: the example is an original AI character, and your video stars you.

How to make a window peeper AI video

  1. 01

    Upload one photo

Use a clear photo of one person with the face visible. Waist up or more works best, because the window shows you sitting at the table and then standing up.

  2. 02

    Press Generate

The AI puts you in the lit window, copies the bite, the stare and the curtain pull with the same timing, and keeps the night zoom from the street. Your video is ready in 5 to 7 minutes, and you can leave the page while it renders.

  3. 03

    Post it with the sound

Download the MP4. When you post on TikTok or Instagram Reels, pick the trending window peeper sound from the app so your video joins the trend.

Photo tips for the window peeper

  • One person per photo. This template has no friend slots.
  • Face the camera with good light. The stare is the whole joke, so your eyes need to be clear: no sunglasses.
  • Your top half carries over, so wear what you want to be caught in.
  • Avoid heavy filters and very small or blurry photos.
